When I was a kid my dad promised to take me to Disneyland. It’s the happiest place on Earth, a magical place. And the thought of going there filled my little noggin with awe and excitement.
Little did I know at the time it was a promise my dad couldn’t keep. Living on the other side of the planet didn’t help (New Zealand is over 6000 miles away from Anaheim CA) but I never gave up. I knew I would go there and I eventually did although it took me another 20 years (2007).
So where am I going with all this?
When I finally got there I was hooked. Going to Disneyland opened my eyes to how amazing the world really is. This Kiwi (New Zealander) wanted more. More of the American culture I’d only seen on TV. So I went back, and then I went back again, and again.
I ended up visiting all over the U.S. to places like Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, St Louis, Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, Houston, Washington DC, Florida, New York and more.
From there I visited more of Australia which is like our sister Country so visiting there is like an extension of home. Our cultures are that much alike. And then more recently (2017) I traveled to parts of Asia I hadn’t even considered like Komodo Island, Bali, Singapore and Hong Kong. And of course…
…I ended that trip with Hong Kong Disneyland!
Side note: my ultimate goal is to visit all the Disney Parks and I have three to go (Paris, Shanghai and Tokyo)
So that’s my travel story. Well, some of it. And I haven’t even talked about myself. Want to know more? Keep reading because there’s so much more tell you.
Take care, Cliff
